Meet Cartelia Kennedy, a dedicated mental health clinician with a passion for providing holistic, person-centered therapy. Cartelia has a private practice of three years in Austin, Texas. She firmly believes that addressing therapy from a comprehensive perspective is essential to support her clients effectively. With a wealth of experience, Cartelia is a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP), and has additional training in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). and Internal Family Systems (IFS). She takes great joy in incorporating movement into her practice as a 200hr Hatha Trauma-Informed Registered Yoga Teacher, and 300hr Registered Kaiut Yoga Teacher, trained in the Kaiut yoga method.
As a therapist, Cartelia's ultimate goal is to foster a profound mind-body connection for her clients, promoting overall wellness and encouraging transformative behavioral changes that align with their core values. She is committed to guiding her clients on their journey towards manifesting lives that are true reflections of their inner selves. Outside her professional realm, Cartelia enjoys a fulfilling personal life. She has been happily married for over 20 years and is a loving mother of three.
When not at work, she finds solace in relaxing at home and cherishing quality moments with her friends and family. Cartelia is a proud advocate for the LGBTQ community and has actively worked within various settings, including agencies, non-profits, and private practices, to support and champion LGBTQ rights and well-being. Her educational background is diverse, encompassing a Masters of Education in Clinical Mental Health, a Master of Arts in Teacher Leadership, a Principal Administrative Certification for K-12, and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications. This academic journey has equipped her with a deep understanding of the importance of developing healthy coping mechanisms when faced with cognitive, environmental, or developmental changes. She understands that her own healing journey is always ongoing and wants her clients to feel that same understanding for their mental health journey.
