About Us

Capital Area Counseling (CAC), formerly known as Capital Area Mental Health Center, was innovated in 1980 by members of the Capital Area Psychological Association who personally responded to the need for low-cost psychological services to people living in the Austin, TX.

While there were low-cost medical clinics across the nation, no one had developed a mental health clinic using professional volunteers. So not only do we offer quality mental health services but we also provide an unparalleled training environment for pre- and post-graduate therapists.
