At Capital Area Counseling (CAC), our volunteer internship program offers more than just
practicum or licensure hours it’s an opportunity to serve the Austin community while developing as a therapist. Interns gain hands-on experience in a supportive environment that values diversity, critical thinking, and personal growth.
Pre Grad Internships
A pre-grad refers to an individual currently enrolled in a Master’s program who has not yet graduated and is seeking an internship to fulfill the requirements of their degree.

- Minimum caseload of 8 ongoing weekly clients
- Minimum 6-month commitment
Post Grad Internships
A post-grad refers to an individual who has completed and graduated from a Master’s program and may be seeking advanced training, licensure hours, or professional experience in their field.

- Minimum 6-month commitment

- Pre-grad supervision for LPC, LMFT & MSW tracks
- Connect with 70+ volunteer therapists
- Join up to 8 weekly peer groups for support, feedback & growth

For Spring start dates, application are accepted starting October 1st.
For Summer start dates, applications are accepted starting February 1st.
For Fall start dates, applications are accepted starting May 1st.
